ELIZABETH, Pa. (KDKA) - The body of a missing Jefferson Hills teenager has been found.
On Friday, search crews found the body of 15-year-old Jeno Moretti in the Monongahela River near the Elizabeth Bridge. Teams from as far away as Maryland and Ohio, as well as regional responders, joined the search effort on Friday.
Crews recovered the body about four hours after getting special equipment from the out-of-state-teams in the water. Once the body was located, it was recovered in less than one minute, Elizabeth Borough Police Chief William Sombo said.
"The equipment we used here was sufficient. But this was better and look what it did. It brought us to a closure, and it's been an emotional ride," said Sombo.
Jefferson Hills police said Moretti was reported missing/runaway by his family and was last seen on Nov. 21.
Divers searched the Monongahela River near the Elizabeth Bridge multiple times over two weeks after someone reported seeing Moretti in the area.
The family told KDKA last week that Moretti was upset after seeing hurtful comments on social media.
"The immediate family that's around here, they're all gathering now. They left here now. They're very upset," the police chief said.
The Allegheny County police homicide unit is now involved in the investigation.
