Body Found In Washington Co. Field May Be Missing Elderly Man
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Pennsylvania State Police in Washington County reported that a body was found in a field on Daniel's Run Road at Brady Road in Scenery Hill.
The coroner's office was called to the scene to investigate.
The body was found near where 88-year-old George Pochiba went missing in June.
The Washington County Coroner says while they are still trying to get a firm identification, a hip replacement links the body to Pochiba.
It's a prosthetic hip replacement," said Washington County Coroner Tim Warco.
It's believed that he died from being exposed to the elements.
"Being disoriented, lack of food, water, wandering around," said Warco. "A terrible tragedy to lose your dad that way."
Pochiba, who suffered from dementia, went missing from his home on Crescent Road in North Bethlehem Township June 10 around 6:30 p.m.
A farmer found the body this afternoon.
State police conducted a search that they say covered about a six mile radius on June 11. The search was later called off due to severe weather and a lack of leads on his whereabouts.
"Being an elderly man, he was out in a hayfield, quite a distance from home, very difficult to find," Warco said.
