Bob Walk Has Faith In Watson, Melancon
PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- Pirates broadcaster Bob Walk joined The Fan Morning Show Friday for his weekly appearance. When asked if he was concerned about the bullpen, Walk said that he has faith in Tony Watson and Mark Melancon.
"I've got faith in those guys. The early and middle part of the bullpen this year has been really hit or miss. Every time we have to go there, you kind of have to cross your fingers," Walk said. "That would be probably the easiest fix of anything we've talked about on the whole team. I think maybe that's an area that they need to look at."
Walk was asked how long he would keep Francisco Liriano in the rotation if he continues to struggle.
"It's probably not going to be all that many starts if he continues to be wild and walk people," Walk said. "This division really is wide open. You can't give much rope to anybody that's out there struggling, especially when you have somebody like say, (Brandon) Cumpton down there that's pitching well. You have to look and go with the hot hands this year."
