Bob Schieffer: Trump, Clinton Share Same Strategy - Focus On Negativity
PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) -- The 2016 Republican National Convention has been anything but conventional.
Former CBS Face the Nation host Bob Schieffer joined the KDKA Afternoon News with Robert Mangino and Shelley Duffy Thursday to give his thoughts on the RNC.
Schieffer brings years of unique experience having covered all four of the major Washington national assignments: the White House, the Pentagon, the Department of State and Congress.
This is Schieffer's 24th political convention.
Perhaps the most talked about moment was Texas Sen. Ted Cruz's speech during which he refused to endorse Donald Trump.
"I've never seen anyone given a standing ovation when he walked on to the stage and then was promptly booed off the stage," said Schieffer.

Regarding the focus remaining on Hillary Clinton's shortcomings rather than Donald Trump's accomplishments, Schieffer said, "They're convinced that the only thing that matters in this campaign is driving up Hillary Clinton's negatives. They think if they can drive her negatives up higher than Trump's negatives, they think they'll win. And I've got to tell you that the Clinton people think exactly the same thing."
