Bob Errey: Pens Haven't Figured Out How To Deal With Flyers
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- Root Sports Penguins Analyst Bob Errey joined "The Cook and Poni Show" Tuesday morning to recap the Pens' disastrous weekend against the Flyers before looking ahead to tonight's game against the Stars.
The guys asked Bob if there should be a real concern with the Flyers after what we saw this past weekend.
"You can't be any more concerned than you were before heading into the weekend," Errey said. "They were injured. The Penguins don't want to use that as an excuse, but I will. Their lineup was not as good as the ones the Flyers put out there."
Errey told the guys they were clearly outnumbered by the Flyers with all of the injuries, but despite that, he would have liked to see more of a compete level from those who were out there.
"Crosby and Malkin would have had to have Herculean efforts to win those games," Errey said. "Minus the stars, the Flyers had more talent out there."
The Pens were clearly outshot again by a wide margin in the Flyers series and it's something that should be concerning.
Bob was more concerned that the Pens have still not figured out how to deal with the Flyers. He said it's a tough matchup because they continue to allow this team to get under their skin. Bob also told the guys that he would have liked to see someone get into the face of Claude Giroux, who just continued to run all over Crosby.
"You can't let the clowns get their way," Errey said. "You can't let Claude Giroux walk around like the Green Giant."
Errey said this team doesn't have to beat other teams by being more physical if they can use their skill.
