Bishop Zubik: Atmosphere 'Electric' Around Pope Francis
PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) - Many Pittsburghers have made the trip east to see Pope Francis in Washington D.C, New York and Philadelphia this week.
Pittsburgh Bishop David Zubik is one of them and he joined the "KDKA Morning News" live from the south lawn of the White House Wednesday morning in anticipation of the Pope's first address since arriving in the United States.
Zubik said the crowd was excited as they waited for the pope.
"You can just feel the electricity mounting as people are so excited to not only catch of the Holy Father, but to hear his first message since he arrived in our country. It's unbelievable," Zubik said. "The pope's going to say what is on his mind. One of the things we very clearly see is that when he wants to speak the truth he's not going to be afraid to say it, but he says it in a way that is very respectful of everybody."
The bishop said the pope will say what he believes to be the truth so depending on the issue he'll, "make lots of people very happy. I think he's going to say some things that will make some people not so happy, but that's part of what it means to deliver the truth."
Bishop Zubik will be Congressman Mike Doyle's gust when the pope speaks to Congress Thursday morning and will then go to Philadelphia to see the Pope there.
