Big Ben On 2-Pt Conversion: "We Are Going To Do It More Than People Anticipate"
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) -- Pittsburgh Steelers Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is already excited for what the future of the team's offense in the upcoming season.
He joined The Cook and Poni Show on Monday live from Steelers camp to brag a bit about his team.
"If we can stay healthy, we feel we can be a pretty good unit," Roethlisberger said. "Guys have really bought in even more this year."
Roethlisberger and that offense put together a very impressive first drive Friday night in Jacksonville. He completed all three of his pass attempts for 59 yards and an opening touchdown that was followed by a complete two point conversion pass.
Roethlisberger said there may be more of that during the season.
"I think we are going to do it more than people anticipate," Roethlisberger said. "It's not going to be a spur of the moment thing. It's going to be decided before we go into each game what we are going to do that week."
Roethlisberger also talked to the guys about how honored he felt to be invited to be a part of the Jerome Bettis enshrinement weekend and how Pittsburgh was featured.
"Everyone understands why Jerome went last," Roethlisberger added. "The whole place was Pittsburgh. Everyone would have left if he went first."
He said it meant a lot that Jerome mentioned him in his speech, adding it was very humbling. He says Bettis told him the night before that he would not have made it to the Hall of Fame without him.
The one bad thing about Bettis being inducted for Ben was another week of camp since the Steelers played the Minnesota Viking in the Hall of Fame game.
"This is usually the only time of year that I play video games. This year I started playing Major League Baseball and the Buccos have already won," Roethlisberger said. "We've already been at camp so long that I have won two World Series."
Roethlisberger is looking forward to leaving camp and getting the regular season started.
You will be able to hear the #1 Cochran Ben Roethlisberger Show every Tuesday on the Cook and Poni Show starting Tuesday Sept. 8 at 11 a.m. on Sportsradio 93-7 The Fan.
