UNIONTOWN (KDKA) -- Police have made an arrest after a woman was killed in a shooting at a housing complex near Uniontown Hospital on Friday afternoon.

State police were called to the Bierer Wood Acres housing complex in South Union Township after 911 started getting calls of shots fired.

The crime scene was secured while state police investigators looked for possible physical evidence, and reconstructed the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.

The victim was identified as 37-year-old Tasha May Walton of Uniontown.

"We're not sure where in this location she was shot. She did arrive in a vehicle with a person of interest that we do have in custody at this time," Trooper Robert Broadwater, of Pennsylvania State Police, said. "The investigation is ongoing. We're not sure if this occurred in her vehicle, outside the vehicle or in the apartment."

Later on Friday night, police announced the arrest of 31-year-old Antonio Lanko, who police said arrived at the housing complex in a silver jeep and fired a semi-automatic handgun at the victim. The relationship between Walton and Lanko is unclear.

Opal McArdle told KDKA-TV's Ralph Iannotti that she's lived in Bierer Wood Acres most of her life.

She says she feels safe and she gets along well with her neighbors, but she immediately knew something was wrong though when she came back home Friday afternoon.

"When we pulled down through there, all we could see was state police cop cars, an ambulance, people all over the sidewalks, everywhere," McArdle said.

As investigators now try to piece together exactly why Walton was fatally shot, a motive for the shotoing remains undetermined.
