Beaver Co. Flower Shop Reopens After Fire

BEAVER COUNTY (KDKA) -- A Beaver County flower shop that was destroyed by fire on New Year's Eve is reopening this weekend.

Beaver Valley Floral will open its doors in a new location just one block from its old store front.

The new job will feature a bigger space, where customers can participate in designing their floral arrangements.

There is also a large selection of memorial stones.

Ray Kurash says it was never a question of if he would reopen his long time business, it was a question of when.

"We're very excited and from what I'm hearing off the streets, people are very excited," he said.

Manager Cristina Aloe helped Kurash bring his business back to life.

The shop will celebrate its grand opening Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be refreshments and a gift for the first 100 customers.

An invitation-only celebration is being held tonight for the Baden Fire Department and other community officials.

"Everyday you see fires on the news," said manager Cristina Aloe, "And when you're in a fire, your empathy and your compassion just change completely."

Kurash wants to say thank you to those who have helped him reopen and present the firefighters with a token of his appreciation.
