Bart Scott: Ben Roethlisberger Is A Jedi
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – Former NFL linebacker and current analyst for CBS' "The NFL Today" Bart Scott joined "The Fan Morning Show" on Thursday to preview the Steelers vs. Patriots season-opener and the 2015 NFL season at large.
Scott was effusive in his praise of a quarterback he faced just about as much as any other during his playing days, Ben Roethlisberger.
"I think Ben has come into his own," Scott said. "I consider Ben a top-four quarterback in this league. I have that level of respect for him."
Scott thinks Roethlisberger has grown tremendously in recent years.
"I think he's figured it out," Scott said. "The mind and the body has come together. He's thinking like a Jedi out there, reads the field so well."
Scott's colorful comparisons didn't end there, though, as he had a couple interesting ways of describing Roethlisberger's ability to make plays under pressure.
"In Baltimore, we used to always call him 'The Young Mike Vick,''" Scott said. "People really underestimate how nimble he is. He's able to see you coming down, and because you know he's willing to stand in the pocket, you don't think that he's going to take that shoulder away - his pocket presence, stepping up and stepping out. I always call him 'Michael Myers' (from the "Halloween" films). I've hit him with some shots, and I thought he was dead, only to walk away and celebrate and watch him get up."
