Smithfield Street Bridge Reopens After Being Hit By Barge
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Smithfield Street Bridge is back open for Monday morning rush hour traffic after a barge struck it and prompted a closure late Sunday night.
A person living nearby reported hearing a very loud noise when it happened.

Allegheny County says a barge hit the bridge some time around 11 p.m., with several first rseponders coming out to the scene.
The bridge had to be closed while crews inspected the bridge to make sure it was safe to reopen. There were no obvious signs of damage.
Pittsburgh: Barge struck the Smithfield Street bridge. No injuries or obvious damage. Bridge will remain shut down until PennDot responds to inspect the bridge.

At this time, it's not clear what led up to the barge colliding with the bridge.
No one was injured.
