'Backchecking' With Penguins Defenseman Robert Bortuzzo
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Penguins Defenseman Robert Bortuzzo joined Trib Sports Columnist Rob Rossi, Trib Penguins Beat Writer Jason Mackey and 93-7 The FAN co-host of The Starkey and Mueller Show, Chris Mueller for the inaugural "Backchecking With The Pens" show that will air on Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN every Monday night.
Things opened up on the show with Bortuzzo talking to the three media members about what else other than what it's like dealing with the media.
When asked if he needs a 5-minute cooling off period before talking with the media, Bortuzzo said "it is what it is" and joked about switching between his on ice persona of being a tough guy and his off ice persona of a nice guy in the media saying. Bortuzzo added that "I don't think I give a great quote anyway," saying that "I think Sutter is the best quote."
Bortuzzo also talked about the now famous "Christmas Vacation" parody the team did saying that he only had to to done take for his part, referring to himself as "One Shot Bob."
Eventually the guys hit on some on the ice topics with Bortuzzo as he gave us some insight into what it's like playing for head coach Mike Johnston.
"I didn't know what to expect coming in but he's been great," Bortuzzo said. "He's always level headed and focused on us and getting us in the best position to win. He always wants us to have that puck and puts a lot of emphasis on that."
Be sure to check out "Backchecking With The Pens" every Monday night at 6pm on Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN.
