Pittsburgh Public Schools Board Approves Health And Safety Plan
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The Pittsburgh Public Schools board approved the proposed health and safety plan for the upcoming school year.
Pittsburgh Public Schools barely had any in-person learning last academic year. Students and teachers will be back in the classroom five days a week for the 2021-2022 school year.

The district administration released its safety plan weeks ago and public comments were made. Some people agreed it was necessary, while others believed it's too difficult.
The board of directors voted to approve the plan during a legislative session Wednesday night.
"I have heard some concerns about how we are going to do 3 feet apart in some schools, but I'm confident we will work through every issue with any classroom that is having any issues. I also hope we continue the conversation about adding other mitigation strategies because this Delta variant is no joke," said Pam Harbin, District 4 board member.
Sala Udin, district 3 board member, brought up how vaccinations should be required for students and teachers. The solicitor mentioned the school board has no authority to mandate vaccinations for students.
