Baby Nearly Hurt During Attempted Break-In

MONESSEN (KDKA) - Monessen's Tanisha Thompson says she can sum up her last few days in one word: "unbelievable."

Monessen Police say the mother of six's apartment was nearly broken into when she wasn't home. Inside were babies, and Thompson's older nieces who were watching the children.

"They were on the phone saying that there was somebody at the back door, knocking on it. I said 'don't answer it,'" Thompson said.

Whoever was at the door then allegedly tried to push a window-mount accordion unit in to gain access. The teetering unit nearly dropped directly onto a sleeping one-year-old. If it had fallen, the child would have been killed.

Thompson thinks the police are looking for the wrong suspect.

"Who's responsible for this, I don't know, but they're blaming the wrong person," she said.

Police are looking for Algin Youngblood, 31. Thompson says he could nit have been involved because she was with Youngblood when the incident occurred.

"He wouldn't do that, he loved all six of my babies like they were his. My number one concern is my kids and getting his name cleared up cause this ain't right," Thompson said.

Youngblood faces burglary charges and endangering the welfare of children charges.
