Arrest warrant issued for man accused of shooting ex-girlfriend through window
CLAIRTON, Pa. (KDKA) - The search is on for a man accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend in the head through a window in Clairton.
According to the criminal complaint, Timothy Wallace allegedly went to his ex-girlfriend's house, demanded she come outside and fired several rounds into the home, striking her in the head on Wednesday night.
Police spoke with the victim at the hospital after she had been transported with non-life-threatening injuries. She told police the two had recently broken up and he came to the home and demanded to see her. She didn't answer the door, then Wallace fired two shots through the window, hitting her in the right side of the head.
She said she ran to hide and protect her two children, ages 5 and 7, and called 911. Neither child was harmed.
Wallace was no longer on the scene. He was described as a slightly muscular Black man with tattoos on both arms and a lazy eye to the right side. Police said he is known to frequent the Wilkinsburg and Beltzhoover areas.
The victim told police her and Wallace were in a relationship for about a year, but it ended in June after she said Wallace assaulted her.
"The first step is to recognize that this is wrong," Light of Life Rescue Mission Executive Director Rev. Jerrel Gilliam said. "This is abuse that I'm dealing with."
The Light of Life Rescue Mission works with several organizations to help women who are abused.
With this particular situation, police have not said if there was long-term abuse. The mission said it's important for victims to get away from a relationship before it becomes abusive and look for help.
"It's usually a domestic shelter. They are scattered in various places around our county and other counties, and the perpetrator will not know where they are," Rev. Gilliam said.
Neighbors told KDKA the victim was able to come home Thusday morning. She grabbed some belongings and took off.
"We just need to be aware, to be a kind city. That means being aware of people around us, and if you notice something, if you get that feeling, ask," Rev. Gilliam said.
Wallace is now facing charges of aggravated assault, criminal attempted homicide, recklessly endangering another person, and firearms violations.
Anyone with information on Wallace's whereabouts is asked to call the Allegheny County Police Tip Line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
