Caught on surveillance camera: Arnold convenience store robbed at gunpoint

Robbery caught on video at Arnold mini mart

ARNOLD (KDKA) -- Police are looking for a suspect caught on surveillance video holding up a mini-mart in Westmoreland County late on Sunday night.

The incident occurred at the All-Seasons Mini Mart along Drey Street in Arnold. The cashier was preparing to close up the store for the night when it all started, the mini mart owner said.

"Our clerk was very good," said co-owner Tom Tyborowski. "She did exactly what she was supposed to. There wasn't a lot of money in the till. She hit the panic button."

In surveillance video provided to KDKA, footage shows an individual in a black winter coat with their hood up and their face covered.

One of the store's owners tells KDKA that the suspect came in and out of the store three times over a span of around 20 minutes, buying different items each time. It was the final time they came back that they went around the counter, confronting a clerk, and pulling what appears to be a gun on her, the video shows.

"The cashier knew that something was wrong because each time she was unnerved. She kept watching," said co-owner Glenn Marsh. "She kept her hand on the holdup button the whole time because he was strange the way he was dressed, the way he was acting."

In the video, the individual is seen taking an apparent amount of cash before taking off.

The owner tells KDKA that the person may have been in the store before.

"My other business partner says this same person, dressed the same way, has been in several other times. But I guess he waited for maybe a female because he figured they would be an easier target," said Marsh.

The owner of the store tells KDKA that the clerk who was targeted in the video was not hurt during the incident.

The mini mart has been in business for 28 years and this is the third armed robbery incident, the owners said.

While police investigate, the owners said they're going to review their protocols.

"Change things up," Tyborowski  said. "Train our people a little bit better. Be more on guard; be aware of everything."

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Arnold Police Department.
