Boy, 15, Charged In Armed Robbery Near Brentwood Park

BRENTWOOD (KDKA) -- Police say they have charged a 15-year-old boy in an armed robbery near Brentwood Park.

Brentwood Police say the suspect, 15-year-old Colton Wallisch, had his shirt pulled over his head and a gun pointed at the juvenile victim when he demanded he hand over his bike and iPhone before taking off on the bike at Brentwood Park.

Parents say it's really scary this happened with small children playing nearby.

Christine Klim brings her two kids to Brentwood Park fairly often and feels safe there.

"There was a security guard sitting at the bench. Earlier, a woman security guard was walking up and down," parent Christine Klim said.

When she heard about an armed robbery that happened around 8 p.m. Wednesday night, she couldn't believe it.

"I was shocked just pulling in by the library and I said, 'oh my God, just at this park, I had no idea,'" Klim said.

Police say Wallisch from Whitehall held up another male juvenile from Brentwood with a gun behind this salt shed, then got away with the victim's bike and iPhone. Police were able to identify Wallisch from a surveillance camera. Police say he was hanging around the playground before he went over to the salt shed.

"I do see older kids sometimes usually by the ball fields or walking on the trail," parent Heather Summerfield said.

But Heather Summerfield said she's never seen anything suspicious.

Police eventually caught up with the teen at his friend's house on nearby Cloverlea Street. Police say they found two guns on Wallisch that they believe were stolen and now he's being charged as an adult.

"So he's 15, has stolen weapons ummm... I do believe it's harsh he was charged as an adult. That might be what he needs," Summerfield said.

As for the stolen items, they were found on the re-sale site Let Go and returned to the victim.

The victim was not hurt in this case.

Whitehall Police are handling the firearm theft case while Brentwood Police are handling the robbery.

Wallsich has been charged as an adult and was taken to the Allegheny county jail with a bail set at $50,000.
