Andy Toole Explains What It Would Take To Pull Him Away From Robert Morris

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – Robert Morris men's basketball coach Andy Toole stopped by The Fan Morning Show on Friday to talk about the state of his program and to break down the Sweet Sixteen action from the NCAA Tournament.

During the interview, Gregg Giannotti asked Toole about how he handles being a candidate for other jobs, and the potential of eventually leaving Robert Morris to coach a bigger program.

Toole offered this response:

"Because of my age, it's a unique situation. I think in college basketball, there are coaches, maybe, who are older than I am, that maybe got an opportunity to be a Division I head coach later in their careers, and they really are trying to hit and get it to the top as quickly as possible.

For me, it's a little different. I kind of have to be very, very selective about anything that might jump in front of me, because the worst thing to be is a 33-year-old coach with a good job where my family likes it, and all of a sudden be a 37-year-old coach unemployed because you take a wrong step... so I have to be selective.

That's something that I'll talk about with our administration if any of those opportunities ever come, and recruits' parents obviously ask me that, and we're honest with them. We talk to them about what the situation could be, and you know, I think the best thing you can do is just try to be honest with everybody and if any opportunities ever arise, figure out if they're ones for you. But I know I have a really, really good job right now. It would take a great one in order for me to go."
