Police believe deadly shooting in Ohio Township was targeted

New details in homicide investigation out of Ohio Township

OHIO TOWNSHIP, Pa. (KDKA) - A man is dead after being both shot and in a car crash in Ohio Township on Thursday evening. 

According to Allegheny County Police Department, just before 6:30 p.m. they were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Ben Avon Heights Road near Gass Road. 

Once detectives arrived, they found "good Samaritans" performing CPR on a man who was in cardiac arrest. 

Medics took him to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead just before 7:30 p.m. The medical examiner identified him as 18-year-old Jordan Nathan Ross Geiger. 

At the hospital, medical staff discovered he had been shot in the torso. 

Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit detectives are now investigating the incident. 

Police detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying a white Chevy Traverse and a blue/gray Honda Accord, both with New York license plates. 

On Friday, police said they recovered both vehicles, adding that they believe the shooting was targeted. 

Anyone who may have been in the parking lots of Giant Eagle or Home Depot in the Ben Avon Heights neighborhood between 6 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. on Aug. 2 and may have cell phone or dashcam footage is being asked to come forward. 

They also ask anyone with information or who may have heard a gunshot in the area of Ben Avon Heights Road between 6 p.m. and 6:20 p.m. to reach out to them at their tip line 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
