Alleged N.Y. Rapist May Be In Pennsylvania, Reward Offered
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The United States Marshals are hunting for an alleged rapist who may be in Pennsylvania.
Michael Hawkins, 29, is accused of sexually assaulting a mentally challenged, wheelchair-bound woman in New York while her loved ones slept nearby. That crime was allegedly committed in 2012.
In 2013, he was accused of assaulting the wife of a friend, also in New York. Between the two alleged crimes, he is charged with rape, aggravated sex abuse and criminal sex act with a person incapable of consent.
Authorities believe Hawkins may have fled the area after his crimes.
He has personal ties in New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Oregon, California and Florida, but his whereabouts are now unknown. He is known to travel, working for different carnivals across the country.
Hawkins is reportedly known to some as "Zombie Mike" because of his "poor hygiene".
He is described as a 5'9'' white man, weighing 160 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Hawkins has a 1.5 inch scar on his face, a burn mark scar on his right arm, and a chest tattoo of the Grim Reaper.
A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to Hawkins' arrest. Anyone with information should contact the nearest U.S. Marshals office or the U.S. Marshals Service Communications Center at 1-800-336-0102, or email usms.wanted@usdoj.gov.
"Predators like Michael Hawkins who prey on helpless victims must be brought to justice," said U.S. Marshal David McNulty of the Northern District of New York. "We, along with our federal, state and local law enforcement partners, are determined to make sure he's held accountable, but we need the public's help."
