Adam Proteau: Wait Until Pens Are Healthy Before Making Trade
PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- Adam Proteau of The Hockey News joined Bob Pompeani on Saturday.
With the rash of injuries that the Penguins have suffered, Pompeani asked Proteau if he would pull the trigger on a trade to bring in help.
"I think I probably would wait until this team is healthy just before I really look at what I have, and I think most GMs probably feel that way in the league. You're not going to make panic decisions really from a point of weakness or a point where you've got injuries," Proteau said.
Pompeani asked Proteau about the Robert Bortuzzo hit on Jaromir Jagr that drew a two-game suspension. Proteau said that the problem was that Bortuzzo still went for a high hit even though he had time and space.
"He met all of those rules for head shots. I think it was the principle point of contact was the elbow with Jagr's head," Proteau said. "I don't think he made an effort to try to avoid the injury, Jagr had already clearly released the puck, the puck was past Robert Bortuzzo and almost in front of the net before he threw that check."
