7 injured after crash involving Pittsburgh Regional Transit bus and tractor-trailer

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Seven passengers were injured after a tractor-trailer driver crashed into a Pittsburgh Regional Transit bus.

Pittsburgh Regional Transit said on Tuesday that the crash happened near The Waterfront in Homestead at around 3:30 p.m. 

Officials said initial reports show the bus driver was stopped at a red light at the Homestead-Grays Bridge and East Eighth Avenue when the back tires of the tractor-trailer hit the front of the bus.

Seven of the 30 people on the bus were taken to multiple local hospitals. Two people were transported to UPMC Mercy, four people were taken to UPMC McKeesport and one person was taken to Jefferson Hospital.

Officials said all of those taken to local hospitals have "non-life-threatening injuries."
