350-Pound Bear Finds Its Way Into Uniontown

UNIONTOWN (KDKA) -- A large bear that found its way into Uniontown is now being relocated to a safer place after it took two tranquilizer darts to subdue it on Monday.

According to Uniontown Police and Game Commission officials, the 350-pound bear was seen around 9 p.m. in the area by Mill and Berkeley Streets.

Officials say they called in the game warden who shot the bear with a tranquilizer dart; however, it had no effect on the animal.

The bear then climbed into a tree where the game warden was able to hit it with a second dart.

Once the tranquilizer kicked in, the bear fell from the tree and game officials and police were able to load it into the back of a truck.

Officials say they're relocating it to an environment safer for wildlife.
