JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Two women were killed and another man was injured in a two-vehicle crash late Monday night in Greene County.

The accident happened just before 11 p.m. on Route 21 at Havers Hill Road in Jefferson Township.

State Police identified the victims as 23-year-old Sherry Espinoza and 19-year-old Amanda Whipkey, both of Waynesburg.

According to police, Espinoza was heading west on Route 21 when her car when out of control on a left curve, went off the right side of the road and hit a guardrail.

Her car then went into the eastbound lane and hit Whipkey's vehicle head-on.

The Greene County Coroner pronounced both women dead at the scene.

A passenger in Whipkey's vehicle, 24-year-old Richard Gump of Waynesburg, was injured.

He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. There's no word on his condition, but state police said his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
