2 Pitt Players Receive ACC Weekly Honors
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - The ACC honored a couple of Pitt players after the first week of play.
Sophomore tailback James Conner was named the conference's Offensive Back of the Week and senior guard Matt Rotheram was named the Offensive Lineman of the Week.
Rotheram helped lead an offensive line that opened holes for 409 yards rushing, the most since the mid-1970s.
"We could feel the power and the momentum," Rotheram said. "Everyone was playing with confidence and you could feel it out there. It was fun."
Conner was the biggest producer in the 62-0 win over Delaware rushing 14 times for 153 yards and four touchdowns. Conner credited the play of the line.
"They all looked really good. All throughout camp/spring ball they prepared themselves really well," Conner said.
Conner also has a regret from that game, not finishing a 60-yard run into the endzone.
"I was mad. I broke the long one, but I was looking back so that made me slow down a bit. Next time I get a long run, I won't look back no more so hopefully, I can take it the distance."

Rotheram says they need to bring that effort Friday night at Boston College.
"That's how we should approach every game, not playing to the level of our opponent and getting after everyone we play against," he said.
