Mother, daughter killed in Armstrong County crash
PLUMCREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa. (KDKA) — A mother and daughter were killed Monday in a crash in Armstrong County.
"They were inseparable. For them to pass away together is indescribable," said their friend Lori Brown.
Forty-one-year-old Lacy Gohn and her mother 70-year-old Sonza Marasco were always together. Brown said where you saw one, you would definitely see the other. She said their friendship and love was undeniable.
"If one passed and the other one didn't, it would be so hard for the other one," said Brown.
State police said around noon on Monday, the pair had just left the Corner Convenience Store on Route 422 in the same car and were heading the short distance to Lacy's home.
Police say they were turning left from the northbound lane on Route 210 across the southbound lane onto a private driveway in Plumcreek Township. A second car driven by a 51-year-old woman was headed south, and the two cars collided at the base of the driveway.
"It was very devastating. We're a small community so it affects everyone," Brown said.
Lacy Gohn, her husband and their two small daughters have been renting from Lori Brown for years. In that time, she says they have become more than just renters, they became close friends.
She's pleading with police to do something so another family doesnt have to go through such a tragic loss. It's an everyday occurrence, she said, to see vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed right in front of her house throughout the day.
"It is dangerous," she said. "People need to pay attention to what's in front of them."
State police say they're reviewing surveillance video from neighboring businesses as the investigation continues.
