2 In Custody Following Knoxville SWAT Incident

KNOXVILLE (KDKA) – Two people are in custody after a SWAT incident in Knoxville early Wednesday morning.

According to police, officers were initially called to the 400 block of Parklow Street for a report of a man firing shots into a home around 3:20 a.m.

Police believe this may have been a dispute between neighbors, which led to a window being shot out.

"The victim on this call, the 911 call, alleged that individuals, their next door neighbors had shot out their bedroom window. Officers arrived, secured the victim's residence and ensured their safety," Pittsburgh Police Sgt. Eric Baker said.

One person fled into a nearby home and SWAT was called to the scene.

"Due to the proximity of the victim's home, to the suspect home, officers were unable to safely ascertain the ballistic damage to the window as to determine the possible caliber of firearm that was used. The decision was made by myself to mobilize a SWAT team," Sgt. Baker said.

After multiple hail attempts and the use of a flash bang, two people in the home came out and surrendered peacefully.

"There was a flash bang. There were multiple hail attempts to get them to come out of the residence and our negotiators were able to speak with the individual and they came out peacefully and they surrendered peacefully," Pittsburgh Public Safety Spokeswoman Emily Schaffer said.

One has been identified as 21-year-old Tyrone Williams, while the other was a 16-year-old male.

Williams was taken into custody after police discovered that he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court.

Police searched the home and found a paintball gun inside.

"I'm sure these can be a lot of fun when used responsibly, however in these circumstances with kids playing around, this can cause a lot of problems," Sgt. Baker said.

It is unclear which of the two suspects shot out the window at this time.
