2 Arrested After Route 65 Crash In Sewickley
SEWICKLEY (KDKA) -- An innocent woman is hurt after two speeding cars end up crashing outside a local high school.
Two people were arrested this morning after a bad crash on Route 65 in Sewickley. The road was shut down in both directions for hours.
After 11 a.m., Pittsburgh Police got involved after numerous drivers called 911, saying they saw a silver Mercedes and a red Camaro speeding.
According to police, the incident started with an attempted robbery at Rivers Casino. A high-speed chase and three crashed cars later, things ended on Route 65 near Quaker Valley Middle School.
"Whatever took place down at the casino, outside the casino, was involved," Tpr. Tom Plunkard with the State Police said. "The Mercedes that was here and the red Camaro that was farther up the road."
The man driving the Mercedes cooperated with the Pittsburgh Police, Sewickley Police and State Police Tuesday afternoon, handing over a wad of cash, cell phones and his passport.
State Police say they got involved after the Mercedes crossed the yellow line, crashing head-on into a gold Toyota. The woman inside was injured and taken to a local hospital, where she is said to be OK.
Pittsburgh Police public safety information officer Sonya Toler says it was the driver of the red Camaro who was responsible for the crashes. He was taken into police custody Tuesday afternoon.
Police have not released any names or potential charges that any of the men may face. It is also unclear which car was chasing one another.
