ALIQUIPPA, Pa. (KDKA) — A 17-year-old has been charged in the deadly shooting of 15-year-old Dahvea Sparrow in Aliquippa over the weekend.

Lamar Seymour is charged with criminal homicide and possession of a firearm. He hasn't been taken into custody.

On Saturday night, Sparrow was shot and killed after a house party in Aliquippa.

Mayor Dwan B. Walker

Beaver County District Attorney David Lozier says Sparrow was at what he believes was a graduation party when things turned south. According to court records, video from surveillance cameras and a witness account reveal Seymour and two other passengers stopped on Knoll Street by Main Street in a minivan before Seymour pulled Sparrow out of another vehicle.

Shots were fired, with Sparrow falling onto the sidewalk. The warrant says Seymour was the only person within 5 feet of Sparrow at the time of the shooting.

"My family has had a hole in their heart for the last couple of days," said Genetha Short, the victim's aunt.

Lozier is calling on the public for help finding Seymour.

"We ask for the citizens' help in locating him, we ask for his family to tell us where he is, his family to work with his lawyer to arrange a safe surrender. We do not need this to end up as another senseless loss," Lozier said.

Sparrow's family said the outpouring of support is what's helping all of them get through this difficult time.

"I don't if I'm ever going to be OK, but in this moment right now I'm just thankful for the love and support from everyone," said Nicole Sparrow, the victim's mother.

There are two $5,000 rewards for information leading to a conviction in this case.
