13-year-old boy arrested after police find stolen handgun, heroin in his possession
MCKEES ROCKS, Pa. (KDKA) -- A teenager has been arrested in McKees Rocks and it's another case of drugs and guns being the wrong hands.
It was in a backyard that the teenager was found and arrested for gun and drug possession.
With an increase in youth getting their hands on illegal items, neighbors are saying more needs to be done to protect them.
Meanwhile, McKees Rocks Police said the 13-year-old boy looked suspicious, loitering in the backyard of a home on Russellwood Avenue.
Neighbors said they saw everything unfold as an office drove by, stopped the teenager, and then put him in handcuffs.
Both guns and drugs were found on him, including heroin and a loaded, stolen 9mm pistol.
These stories are becoming a concerning trend that neighbors said has taken control of their youth as they run around without guidance day in and day out.
"It's sad, they could do a lot more than what they're doing," said Scott, a concerned neighbor. "Pittsburgh is making it way too easy for people to obtain weapons, it should be a little more strict on how you're allowed to obtain a weapon."
The McKees Rocks Police Chief was not available for comment.
