12-Year-Old Boy Shot, 3 Others Grazed In Homewood

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh Police continue their search for a man who went on a shooting rampage throughout the streets of Homewood Thursday night.

Four people were hit, including a 12-year-old boy who was critically injured.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. in the 1000-block of Brushton Avenue.

Witnesses say the man ran through the street firing at least 12 rounds.

The 12-year-old's mother says her son was hit in the side and the ankle.

She says he had to have surgery at Children's Hospital Friday morning to remove his spleen because one of the bullets had lodged itself in there.

That mother also says her 21-year-old daughter was grazed in the leg by one of the bullets. Another bullet nearly struck her face. The parents rushed to boy and his sister to the hospital before police arrived at the scene.

Another person was hit by the gunfire and another grazed.

Pittsburgh Police describe the shooter as a black male wearing black clothing.

"What we really need right now is for the community to come forth and say this is who the shooter was, identify him and take a step further and go into court and identify him in front of a judge and jury," Pittsburgh Police Spokeswoman Sonya Toler said.

All four victims are expected to survive.
