Victim in critical condition, suspect charged after stabbing in Observatory Hill
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A suspect is facing attempted homicide charges after a person was stabbed multiple times in Observatory Hill on Sunday.
Pittsburgh police said Acting EMS Chief Amera Gilchrist was off-duty when Gilchrist responded to Delaware Street for reports of a victim stabbed at a home just after 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Police said Gilchrist grabbed some towels and a box of gloves and found the victim on a porch. He had been stabbed in the neck and multiple times in the back, police said.
Gilchrist applied pressure until officers arrived, who police said used combat gauze before medics got to the scene.
The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Police said they arrested 32-year-old Jonathan Johnson of Pittsburgh at the scene. He's charged with aggravated assault, criminal attempt homicide and recklessly endangering another person.
