1 Killed, 1 Wounded In Homewood Shooting
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- One person was killed and a second person was injured when gunfire rang out in Homewood this afternoon.
The double shooting happened around 4 p.m. in the 500-block of Albion Street near Finance Street, outside of a vacant home.
Police say the man who was killed was a local contractor, 39-year-old Glenn Walker, Jr. of McKeesport.
An associate or business partner of Walker, Jr. was shot and wounded in the eye, and was rushed to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital where he was undergoing surgery at last report.
Public Safety Spokesperson Sonya Toler said the two victims, and a third person were in the home discussing a construction project, they went outside and that's where at least 15 shots were fired.
"We believe this was a meeting of at least three individuals who were here to discuss construction on a vacant building," said police spokesperson Sonya Toler. "And when they came outside there was some sort of argument and at that point, shots were fired."
A gun was found on the street, lying next to the fatally wounded man. When police arrived just after 4 p.m., the victim was found in the street, in front of a parked Chrysler 300. That vehicle and a white Chrysler were both towed from the scene.
"It's only senseless that somebody else's son, father, brother, uncle, loved one has been lost," said neighbor Candace Foster.
The second victim has not been identified.
