Pilot Injured In Small Plane Crash In Clarion County

PAINT TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- The pilot of a small plane is being treated in Pittsburgh after his aircraft crashed on take-off at the Clarion County Airport.

It happened just before 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Airport Manager Don Kimball told KDKA's Kym Gable that the male pilot, who is not a local resident, was the only person onboard.

The accident happened while the single-engine plane was departing the runway.

The man was flown to Pittsburgh by medical helicopter.

"We had a single-engine mishap. We just called emergency services and contacted the FAA. That's what has been done so far," said Kimball.

He said the cause of the crash is under investigation by the FAA. That agency has not yet been to the site.

Kimball said he does not know how seriously the pilot was injured.
