2 Injured After Car Lift Fails At Auto Body Shop

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A Butler County auto body shop employee was flown to the hospital, and another injured, after a car lift failed.

It happened at Brown's Garage on Meridian Road in Penn Township, just before noon.

Two workers were pinned under a car after the hydraulic lift holding up the car failed.

"The hydraulic lift broke, causing the whole vehicle to shift to one side and the car fall on some workers," said Middlesex Police Sgt. Randy Ruediger.

One of the injured workers was the garage owner, John Brown. Police say he suffered a broken ankle, head injuries and had difficulty breathing.

Richard Browser was also hurt. But the extent of his injuries are unknown, nor where he was taken for treatment.

And it was another worker who sprung into action when he saw what was going on, he jumped in a tow truck.

"A tow truck had to remove the car, at least for the car away to remove the workers from underneath it," said Ruediger.

Police say although both men suffered injuries, they do not appear to be life-threatening.
