It's summertime - time for music at festivals and venues across the country.

System of a Down
On May 18 Open Air Festival provided a rare show by System of a Down, the California heavy metal band that formed in 1994 but has been hibernating for a while. (Their last record release was in 2006.) The group keeps a low profile – only five photographers were allowed into their set.

Guitarist Daron Malakian, of System of a Down. The group last performed in October 2018, but they appeared in May at the Open Air Festival, and the Sonic Temple Festival in Columbus, Ohio.

The Chicago Open Air Festival was held May 18 and 19 at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Ill. Among the featured acts was Meshuggah, a Swedish heavy metal band, whose name translates in Yiddish as "crazy."

Also appearing with Slayer at Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center was the metal band Lamb of God. Last year they released an album, their ninth, under the band's original name, Burn the Priest.

Shirley Manson of Garbage was the headliner of the Face The Music Benefit Concert, at the Riviera Theatre in Chicago on May 20, 2019.
The concert donated 100% of proceeds to the Face The Music Foundation, which supports groups like Recovery Unplugged, a rehabilitation treatment center using the power of music to provide hope and healing for individuals affected by addiction.

In a statement Garbage said: "Over the course of our career, many of our friends and bandmates have found themselves in the treacherous throes of addiction. The Damn Things
