Running of the bulls in Pamplona

The annual Fiesta de San Fermin, made famous by Ernest Hemmingway's 1926 novel "The Sun Also Rises", involves the running of the bulls through the historic heart of Pamplona to the bull ring. Tens of thousands of expectant party-goers holding red scarves squeezed into the town hall to kick off 204 hours of music, dancing, drinking, bullfighting, and for the brave or unwary, a 902-yard daily sprint in front of six fighting bulls known as the Running of the Bulls. The festival runs until July 14.
