Men’s 5000 meter

After coming in second to Farah, Chelimo was informed that he and two other runners were disqualified - allegedly having stepped out of the lane. Hagos Gebrhiwet of Ethiopia, who placed third, was bumped up to silver, and American Bernard Lagat, who came in fourth, was bumped up to bronze. But the decision to disqualify Chelimo was reversed, and in the end Gebrhiwet wound up with the bronze.

Rodgers and Gatlin were ruled to have passed the baton outside the first passing zone. The bronze was awarded to Canada. “It’s always something weird, stupid, simple, mistakes that always cost us and I don’t understand,” Gay told the Associated Press. “I couldn’t even shed a tear I was so shocked.”

Women's 5000m - Sportsmanship
After the two collided in the women’s 5000m in the Rio Olympics on Aug. 16, 2016, American Abbey D’Agostino helped New Zealander Nikki Hamblin telling her to get up and so they could finish.Then when D’Agostino hobbled on an injured ankle Hamblin (L) urged her to continue when she fell again.
Both women made it across the finish line last and second to last. D’Agostino needed a wheelchair at the end of the race. Following a protest, the two runners, plus a third affected by the collision, advanced to the final.
Shaunae Miller dives to finish

With just a couple of laps to go, Diro got into a tangle and her right shoe partially came off. As precious seconds ticked by, she removed her shoe and her sock, continued her run over and through obstacles with one bare foot, overtaking several competitors in the process. She finished seventh, but following team protests, Diro and two other runners were advanced to the final.

Swimming - Katie Ledecky
No, she’s not swimming in the wrong direction. Katie Ledecky leads the field in the women’s 800m freestyle Final.
In one of the greatest performances in Olympic history, Ledecky won her fourth gold medal and posted her second world record, shattering her own mark in the 800-meter freestyle. She bested second place finisher Jazz Carlin, of the U.K., by nearly 12 seconds.
The 19-year-old American said, “I just wanted to lay it all out there.”

Ayana broke the world record set in 1993 with a time of 29 minutes, 17.45 seconds. Kenya’s Vivian Cheruiyot, the 2015 world champion, finished more than 15 seconds behind for silver and Tirunesh Dibaba of Ethiopia, the 2008 and 2012 Olympic champion, finished third for a bronze medal.

Simone Biles Takes Gold
