"Pretty Woman" 25th anniversary: Where are they now?
It's been 25 years since "Pretty Woman" debuted in theaters. The Garry Marshall charmer gave romantic comedies a fresh start...and made a fresh A-lister out of a 23-year-old ingenue from Georgia: Julia Roberts.
"Pretty Woman": Where are they now?
A host of better-known actresses — Michelle Pfeiffer, Diane Lane, Karen Allen — had turned down the role of young prostitute Vivian Ward before Julia Roberts took it in 1990. Her performance helped the $14 million film gross more than $463 million at the box office. It also launched her career into the stratosphere.
Julia Roberts today
She got $300,000 to do "Pretty Woman," but since then, Julia Roberts has commanded fees in the tens of millions. She’s won an Oscar for her titular role in "Erin Brockovich" (2000) and has three children with husband Danny Moder.
Richard Gere (Edward Lewis)
Before playing corporate raider Edward Lewis, Richard Gere was already known as a leading man, thanks to his own breakthrough role in "American Gigolo" in 1980.
Richard Gere today
Gere took home a Golden Globe in 2002 for his role in the musical "Chicago." He still logs at least a movie a year; his latest is "The Second Best Marigold Hotel."
Laura San Giacomo (Kit De Luca)
Laura San Giacomo had already established herself as a capable actress via the early Steven Soderbergh drama "Sex, Lies, and Videotape," before she landed the part of wisecracking prostitute Kit de Luca.

Seven years after "Pretty Woman," Laura San Giacomo landed her own sitcom, "Just Shoot Me!" -- which ran until 2003. She’s since kept busy doing guest appearances in various TV dramas and comedies.
Ralph Bellamy (James Morse)
Decades before Richard Gere’s character set his eye on Bellamy’s fictitious corporation in "Pretty Woman," Ralph Bellamy was an Oscar-nominated star, having appeared in movies and TV shows since 1931. His role as businessman James Morse was his last; he died in 1991, at age 87.
Alex Hyde-White (David Morse)
Alex Hyde-White played the smart, polo-playing scion of James Morse in "Pretty Woman." Since then, Hyde-White has appeared in three Steven Spielberg movies, including "Catch Me If You Can" and "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade." He also owns production companies that make movies and audiobooks.
Hector Elizondo (Barney Thompson)
New York native Hector Elizondo had been acting for two decades before embodying the role of hotel manager-slash-fairy-godfather Barney Thompson.
Hector Elizondo today
Since "Pretty Woman," Hector Elizondo has continued to work steadily, most recently on the Tim Allen sitcom, “Last Man Standing.”
Jason Alexander (Phillip Stuckey)
A pre-"Seinfeld" Jason Alexander played a supporting role as a lecherous lawyer pal of Richard Gere in "Pretty Woman."
Jason Alexander today
Nine years later, of course, Jason Alexander would come to embody one of the most memorable sitcom supporting roles of all time, as George Costanza on "Seinfeld." Since the show wrapped in 1998, Alexander has frequently appeared as a star or panelist on late night talk shows and TV series.
Amy Yasbeck (Elizabeth Stuckey)
Who could forget Amy Yasbeck's Elizabeth Stuckey, the stuck-up wife who threw such elegant shade at Julia Roberts at the polo match in "Pretty Woman"?
Amy Yasbeck today
Amy Yasbeck starred in the hit sitcom "Wings" from 1994 to 1997. She married actor John Ritter in 1999; after he died in 2003, she filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the doctors and medical center that treated him; several defendants settled out of court for a total of $14 million.
Garry Marshall (director)
Before he directed "Pretty Woman," Garry Marshall was arguably one of the most influential producers in TV, having created sitcoms such as "Happy Days" and "Mork & Mindy."
Garry Marshall today
Marshall has directed 10 films since "Pretty Woman," including "The Princess Diaries."
