Camels, sheep and a pony were included in the early morning procession to the front of Radio City Music Hall where the animals were greeted by members of the Rockettes.
The "Living Nativity" scene has been part of the production since the Christmas Spectacular's inception in 1933.
Tibet - Bliss Dharma Assembly

The last of four annual assemblies, the week long annual gathering takes place in the ninth month of the Tibetan calendar and marks Buddha's descent from the heavens.
Located high in the mountains of Sichuan, the Larung Wuming Buddhist Institute was founded in 1980 by an influential lama of the Nyingma sect and is widely regarded as the world's largest and most influential centers for Tibetan Buddhist studies.

New York - new train tunnel

Airports across Britain suffered disruption as heavy fog led to delays and cancellations for a second day. Flights to and from London airports were being affected, while foggy conditions in the capital and across Europe were causing problems to airports around the country.

France - dead whales

Ten beached whales, including a dominant male of 4.5m in length, were discovered in the early morning. Six of the whales had already died by the time firefighters and members of the local Animal Protection League (LPA) got to the scene, but they were able to revive four of the mammals, including two calves, and helped them return to the sea.

Italian fashion house Fendi took down the plastic barriers that surrounded Rome's Trevi Fountain for 16 months as the stone rendering of Tritons underwent the most drastic renovation in its 252-year history. Fendi is one of a gaggle of luxury companies that have stepped in to prop up Italy's crumbling monuments as public funding for their upkeep dwindled.
