Germany - Horse capture

The reserve, which is administered by the Duke of Croy (Herzog von Croy), encompasses 400 hectares of forest and meadows that are home to approximately 400 wild horses, who have been native to the region since the 14th century. The captured stallions are auctioned off. The capture is meant to prevent infighting within the herd.

Interpol said on Wednesday it issued international wanted-person alerts for two former FIFA officials, including Jack Warner, and four corporate executives at the request of U.S. authorities as part of a corruption probe. Interpol also issued so-called red notices -- not an international arrest warrant -- for Warner, former President of CONCACAF, which governs football in North and Central America and the Caribbean, and Nicolas Leoz, the former head of South America's soccer federation. Alejandro Burzaco, Hugo Jinkis, Mariano Jinkis, and Brazilian Jose Margulies, who headed two offshore companies involved in broadcasting soccer matches, were hit with U.S. graft charges involving more than $150 million in bribes.

Myanmar on Wednesday landed the boat with 727 migrants on board in the country's western Rakhine state, after keeping the vessel at sea for days, a Reuters witness said. The migrants were found drifting in the Andaman Sea in an overloaded fishing boat taking on water.

Paris - Love locks

Started by tourists in Paris in 2008, the love locks ritual, which also spread in the early 2000s to cities including New York, Seoul and London, has resulted in the transformation of several bridges: every inch of their railings covered with clunky brass padlocks.
China - Capsized cruise ship

More than 450 people were onboard the ship when it capsized, but only 14 survivors have been found.
California - Oarfish
Catalina Island Conservancy conservation operations coordinator, Amy Catalano, stands next to a 14-foot-long oarfish, which washed up near Catalina Island's Emerald Bay. The deep sea fish was likely longer since it was missing its tail when found.
It's the fifth time one of the mysterious creatures have turned up on West Cost beaches in the past year.

Turkey - Syrian refugees

More than 3,000 Syrians fleeing clashes between ISIS and Kurdish fighters have crossed into Turkey since Wednesday. According to officials, 3,337 Arab Syrians crossed into Turkey in less than two days to avoid the clashes and bombing raids carried out against ISIS by a U.S.-led coalition.

The Legion of Honor is the highest distinction France can award to a citizen or foreigner. The Ten WWII veterans who were honored fought on French territory as part of the liberation of the country from Nazi Germany. Regularly under enemy fire, Byars was the sole survivor of machine gun fire from a single German fighter plane that attacked his five-truck convoy.
