The cubesat, whose mission is funded by members and supporters of The Planetary Society, overcame two orbital incidents during its test mission before unfurling its sail on Sunday, June 7, 2015.
The test mission's objective is to determine whether solar sails can be used for spacecraft propulsion.

The four boats were discovered in a protected area with over 8 metric tons of sea cucumbers and reef fish on board. The small island country is trying to stamp out poaching and create a national marine sanctuary
Triple Crown winner American Pharoah

With the win, American Pharaoh became the first horse to win the Triple Crown in 37 years and only the 12th horse ever to gain that distinction.
Australia - Koala surgery

Phantom was in his mother Lizzy's pouch when they were hit by a car west of Brisbane. Lizzy suffered chest trauma and a collapsed lung, but after surgery is doing very well. Phantom escaped untouched by the accident.

Virtz, Shkaplerov, and Cristoforetti returned after more than six months onboard the International Space Station where they served as members of the Expedition 42 and 43 crews.
Germanwings victims repatriated

A total of 44 German victims of the crash were repatriated the day before to Germany, bringing some closure to a tragedy that devastated the small town of Haltern.
Evidence indicated that co-pilot Andreas Lubtitz, deliberately crashed Germanwings flight 4U9525 into mountains in southern France on March 24, instantly killing all 150 people on board.

New York - Prison escape

David Sweat and Richard Matt cut their way out of the Clinton Correctional Facility, a maximum-security prison, in Dannemora, New York. The two staged an escape on June 5th and remained on the loose a week later.
Volvo Ocean Race

The 12th Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 started in Alicante, Spain on October 04, 2014. The world's premier ocean yacht race spans some 39,379 nautical miles, visiting 11 ports in 11 countries (Spain, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, China, New Zealand, Brazil, United States, Portugal, France, The Netherlands and Sweden) over nine months.

Soccer riot death sentences

The court upheld death sentences against 11 football fans over the riot, which broke out when fans of home team Al-Masry and Cairo's Al-Ahly clashed after a premier league match between the two clubs.

Los Angeles - Ezell Ford protest

Ford was killed in August 2014 in after an encounter with police in South Los Angeles. While the L.A. police department determined both officers acted within regulations, the Los Angeles Police Commission, a citizen oversight committee, unanimously decided on June 9, 2015 that one officer acted within policy, but the other was in violation in the shooting death of 25-year-old Ezell.
Luxor - Terror attack

The suicide bomber blew himself up in the parking lot of Karnak temple in the southern Egyptian city of Luxor. No group immediately claimed responsibility, but Islamist militants set on toppling the Cairo government have killed hundreds of police and soldiers in the past, usually at checkpoints and barracks or police stations.
