Celebrity Pitchmen in trouble with the law
Former Subway spokesperson Jared Fogle pleaded guilty on Nov. 19, 2105, to child pornography and sex crimes charges. The charges followed a raid in July 2015 on his suburban Indianapolis home and the resulting criminal case destroyed his career with the sandwich restaurant chain.
Dell Schanze
Dell "Super Dell" Schanze, a Utah spokesperson for an electronics chain, pleaded guilty in April 2015 to using an aircraft to harass wildlife and pursuing a migratory bird after chasing and kicking a barn owl, a protected species, with his para-glider.
Kevin Trudeau
TV pitchman Kevin Trudeau was sentenced in 2014 to 10 years in prison for bilking consumers via infomercials for his best-selling weight loss book. In sentencing the 50-year-old Trudeau in Chicago federal court, U.S. District Judge Ronald Guzman said that for decades Trudeau "steadfastly attempted to cheat others for his own personal gain."
Vince Shlomi
Vince Shlomi, better known as the pitchman for Permission Interactive's ShamWow, was arrested for fighting with an alleged prostitute in 2009. According to the police report, Shlomi paid Harris $1,000 for "straight sex" but Harris bit Shlomi's tongue and would not let go.
He wasn't charged in the incident.
Benjamin Curtis
Benjamin Curtis, who plays Dell Computer Corp.'s popular pitchman "Steven," was arrested in 2003 by officers on a drug detail who spotted him buying a small bag of marijuana. A judge at the 22-year-old New York University drama student's arraignment told him his case would be dismissed and his record cleaned if he didn't get arrested during the next year.
Although he stayed out of trouble, Dell, Inc. terminated Curtis' employment and ended its relationship with him soon afterward.
