Deadly explosions in Brussels
Explosions at the main Brussels airport and in the metro rocked the Belgian capital leaving at least 31 people dead and more than 250 injured, including three American Mormon missionaries, March 22, 2016. Belgium's public broadcaster RTBF said at least one suicide bomber was behind the explosions at the airport.
ISIS claimed responsibility for the attacks.
All flights were canceled, arriving planes were being diverted and Belgium's terror alert level was raised to maximum, officials said.

The woman in yellow was identified as Nidhi Chaphekar, a 40-year-old Jet Airways flight attendant, from Mumbai, India, March 23. Publication of the photo helped her family locate Chaphekar who is married and the mother of two.
Americans injured
Three American Mormon missionaries seriously injured in the attacks at the Brussels airport were identified as (L-R) Richard Norby of Lehi, Utah, 66, Joseph Empey of Santa Clara, Utah, 20, and Mason Wells of Sandy, Utah, 19, on March 22, 2016. The three men were serving in Paris and were at the airport with a fourth missionary, Fanny Rachel Clain, from France who was on her way to an assignment in Ohio. Clain suffered minor burns and cuts.
The U.S. Air Force confirmed that one service member was injured at the airport along with five family members.

Possible suspects
A picture taken from a security camera in the Brussels airport before the attacks. Belgium's VTM network broadcaster said police and security services consider these three men suspects in the attacks by the police and security services. It is not known if they are still alive or if the suicide bomber is one of them.
Theories have circulated that the two men on the left wore black gloves on their left hands to conceal triggers for explosive vests. The third man is believed to have fled the scene and is being sought by police.

Airlines canceled hundreds of flights and European railways froze links with Brussels after a series of deadly bomb blasts that ISIS claimed responsibility for.

About an hour after the explosions at the airport, there was a blast at the Maelbeek Metro station in central Brussels, very near the U.S. Embassy and European Union headquarters. Twenty people were killed in the metro. The metro system was shut down.
