Police ID Suspect Shot, Killed By Police Following Confrontation In Delaware

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) - New Castle County Police have identified the man killed in an officer-involved shooting Wednesday afternoon.

Police say they identified Keith Price as the suspected shooter in the April 9 shooting on Lambson Lane and obtained attempted murder warrants for his arrest.

Wednesday afternoon, officers located Price alone driving a green Honda Civic in Wilmington.

Police began pursuing him at 24th and Market Streets.

Authorities say they gave Price commands in an attempt to arrest him, but he refused to comply and instead drove his vehicle towards the officers, which resulted in one of the officer's firing their handgun.

Police say Price continued to ignore commands and then crashed his vehicle into a police vehicle before driving away from the scene.

Officers initiated a vehicle pursuit which ended when Price crashed his vehicle into cars on Philadelphia Pike at Washington Street Extension.

Police say he then fled from his vehicle on foot towards St. Helena's Church with an officer in pursuit.

Price ran and concealed himself in bushes next to the church. As the officer pursued, Price reappeared and pointed a handgun at the officer.

The officer then fired their handgun, striking Price.

Price was provided emergency medical attention and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two officers involved were taken to an area hospital for treatment. They were released last night.

Police say this is an active and ongoing investigation.
