19-year-old man killed in Williamstown, New Jersey shooting, prosecutors say

Man hospitalized after shooting in Monroe Township, New Jersey

A 19-year-old man was killed in a shooting in a quiet South Jersey neighborhood Monday night, authorities said.

The shooting happened just after 8 p.m. on the 300 block of Texas Avenue in Williamstown, part of Monroe Township in Gloucester County. Days after the shooting, the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office is shedding new light on the details surrounding the incident.

In an update from GCPO on Friday, investigators said they determined a dispute led to the Monday night shooting. Authorities were surveying the area where the shots were fired when they found an unconscious man in the backyard of a home on Texas Avenue, prosecutors said.

The man was later identified as 19-year-old Qaasir K. Greenidge, from Sicklerville, a section of Winslow Township in South Jersey. Prosecutors said Greenidge was later pronounced dead at Jefferson Hospital in Washington Township.

According to GCPO, an autopsy revealed Greenidge died from a single gunshot wound. The medical examiner declared the manner of death to be a homicide.

Monroe Township police previously shared that three people were quickly detained nearby after authorities arrived on the scene. Police warned the public of police activity in the Colonial Estates development early Tuesday morning.

Police activity in Colonial Estates due to an active investigation. There is no threat to the public. Additional details will be released as appropriate.
