Route 72 westbound in New Jersey reopens following wildfire in Burlington County

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Part of Route 72 westbound in Burlington County, New Jersey, was closed Monday as the New Jersey Forest Fire Service responded to a wildfire.

The NJFFS shared in a post on X Monday evening that a wildfire burning near mile marker 10.5 in Woodland Township along Route 72 was being contained by firefighters with help from an afternoon thunderstorm that rolled through the area.

In the same update, the NJFFS said Route 72 had reopened and the fire hadn't spread beyond 30 acres.

According to the NJFFS, no structures are currently threatened. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
