Whale dies after washing up on beach in West Cape May, officials say
A whale that washed up on the beach in West Cape May, New Jersey, on Tuesday afternoon has died, rescuers said Wednesday.
The Marine Mammal Stranding Center got a call about a beached whale around 3 p.m. Dec. 3 and arrived on the scene.
The whale had to be euthanized due to its condition, the center said.
Over the past two years, several whales have washed up along the beaches in New Jersey. Eight humpback whales were found dead in New Jersey in 2023, according to NOAA data.
