Mother, daughter injured in West Philadelphia shooting: police
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A mother and daughter were shot inside their home in West Philadelphia on Wednesday night, police said.
The shooting happened on the 5700 block of Spruce Street at around 7 p.m.
Police said the 53-year-old mother and 16-year-old daughter were both shot after a person knocked on the door of their house.
The alleged shooter asked the mother and daughter for someone by name, but the two told the suspect the person didn't live at the residence.
After closing the door, police said the shooter fired shots at the house, striking the mother and daughter, who were in the vestibule of the home. The mother was hit in the hip, while the daughter was struck in her leg. They were both listed as stable at Penn Presbyterian Hospital.
The alleged shooter fled the scene on a bike toward 57th Street and eventually was taken into custody, police said. He was then positively identified by the mother and daughter at the hospital, according to police.
