Neighbors on edge after fatal home invasion near Temple University in North Philly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Three people were shot inside a home in North Philadelphia Sunday afternoon. Police say the shooting happened around 12:45 p.m. during a home invasion on the 1800 block of West Diamond Street.

Two men kicked in the front door and shot three people inside the house, authorities say.

Police say a 15-year-old girl was shot in the leg several times and taken to the hospital. She is in stable condition.

A 26-year-old man was shot in the back of the head and was pronounced dead at the hospital around 1 p.m. Police identified the man as Rayquan Morris of Philadelphia.

Another man, a 29-year-old, was shot in the chest, shoulder and leg. He was transported to the hospital where he was placed in critical condition.

Officials say the suspects fled in a white Chevy.

Temple University sent out an alert via its Twitter notification system.

Temple police later told CBS3 that "a TUalert was sent for a shooting on the 1800 block of W. Diamond. This is outside the patrol zone and not TU related at this time, but we sent the alert due to its close proximity." Temple says the victims of the home invasion were not students or faculty.

Philadelphia police also tell CBS3 that nothing was taken from the house.

The shooting is under investigation. No weapons were recovered.
